VW Bro Chris Roberts
PGSwdB PDepProvGM PZ
The most senior and longest serving member of the Borough of Woolwich Lodge, is V.W.Bro. Christopher Roberts. Affectionately known throughout the Province of West Kent as ‘Chris’. He joined BoWL on the 11th November, 1974 and became our Worshipful Master for the first time in 1988.
Clearly identified as a fine ritualist and an active and highly regarded Mason, he was appointed to the active office of Provincial Grand Steward in 1991. Promotion soon followed and by 2000 he was awarded the accolade of Provincial Junior Grand Warden. Not stopping there however, he went on to become an Assistant Provincial Grand Master in 2010 and the Deputy Provincial Grand Master in 2012. An office he served with distinction for six years.
Chris reinforced his commitment to BoWL, when he again became the WM in 2008. In the interim, he had served the Lodge in several offices, including those of Charity Steward, Treasurer and a spell of seven years as the Director of Ceremonies. An office he currently occupies.
Nevertheless, despite the heavy workload imposed by his various roles within the Province and in other areas of Freemasonry, we are pleased to say, his enthusiasm and loyalty to BoWL has never been blunted, he regularly attends our Lodge of Instruction evenings, where his presence is greatly appreciated.
